The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Justin W. Pollard, 21, of Foothill Ranch, Calif., died on Dec. 30 in Baghdad, Iraq Pollard died as a result of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident. Pollard was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Carson, Colo.

The incident is under investigation.
