The Department of Defense announced today the death of three Soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Michael C. Campbell, 34, of Marshfield, Mo., died May 19, in Samarra, Iraq, when his convoy hit an improvised explosive device. Campbell was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Leslie D. Jackson, 18, of Richmond, Va., died May 20, in Baghdad, Iraq, when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device as it was returning to Camp Eagle. Jackson was assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood, Texas.

Sergeant First Class Troy L. Miranda, 44, of DeQueen, Ark, died May 20, on Hipha Street in Baghdad, Iraq, when a grenade was thrown near his foot patrol. Miranda was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division.

The incidents are under investigation.
