DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Pvt. 1st Class Samuel R. Bowen, 38, of Cleveland, Ohio, died July 7 in Samarra, Iraq, when a rocket-propelled grenade exploded near his vehicle. Bowen was assigned to the Army National Guard's 216th Engineer Battalion, Akron, Ohio. The incident is under investigation.
