The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Victor A. Martinez, 21, from Bronx, N.Y., died Dec. 14 south of Baghdad, Iraq, from a gunshot wound. Martinez was assigned to the 364th Supply Company, 264th Corps Support Battalion, 1st Corps Support Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

The incident is under investigation.
