The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Kevin D. Davis, 41, of Lebanon, Ore., died April 8 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV in Hawijah, Iraq. Davis was assigned to the Army National Guard's G Troop, 82nd Cavalry, Redmond, Ore.
