The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Cpl. Ramona M. Valdez, 20, of Bronx, N.Y., died June 23 while traveling n a convoy that was attacked by a suicide, vehicle-borne, improvised explosive service in Fallujah, Iraq. She was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
