The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Marshall A. Westbrook, 43, of Farmington, N.M., died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Oct. 1, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. Westbrook was assigned to the Army National Guard's 126th Military Police Company, Albuquerque, N.M.
