The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Matthew E. Schneider, 23, of Gorham, N.H., died on Aug. 28, in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, from a non-combat related cause.Schneider was assigned to the 141st Signal Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany.

The incident is under investigation.
