The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Staff Sgt. Darrel D. Kasson, 43, of Florence, Ariz., died Mar. 4 in Tikrit, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle at Bayji, Iraq.
